The MSU Growth Chamber Facility works to minimize barriers to conducting high quality plant research so investigators can focus on the science. To that end the following services are included with the chamber rental fee:
- Allocation of chamber space to leverage the capabilities of facility equipment to best meet research needs
- Chamber monitoring 365 days a year
- Site planning/renovation for installations
- Chamber delivery management
- Decommissioning and removal
- Changing and reporting of chamber conditions e.g. temperature, humidity, PAR intensity, grow light spectra
- Cleaning and sanitization
- Space allocation
- Maintenance
- Whitewash application and removal
- Cleaning
- Repair of facility equipment e.g. compressors, condensers, fan motors, control boards/circuitry
- Replacing lighting equipment e.g. bulbs, ballasts, LED bars, LED drivers
- Cooling tower monitoring, condenser flushing
- Maintaining water distribution equipment
- De-Ionized water (DI) and nutrient water to every chamber area
- Instant release and slow release fertilizers
- Horticultural supplies e.g. pots, trays, growing media
- Pest monitoring
- Scheduled release of beneficial insects
- Chemical application by request
- Collection of transgenic material
- Disposal of transgenic material according to Environment, Health and Safety regulations
- Autoclavable bags provided
- Potting and prep rooms
- Seed and tissue collection areas
- Collection points for plant waste
- Drying rooms
- Site-specific training in compliance with the Worker Protection Standard (WPS)
- Facility access control
