Services

The MSU Growth Chamber Facility works to minimize barriers to conducting high quality plant research so investigators can focus on the science.  To that end the following services are included with the chamber rental fee:

• Allocation of chamber space to leverage the capabilities of facility equipment to best meet research needs
• Repair and maintenance of facility equipment e.g. compressors, condensers, fan motors, belts, control boards/circuitry
• Cleaning and sanitization of growth chambers
• Repair and replacement of growth chamber lighting e.g. bulbs, ballasts, LED bars, LED drivers
• Cooling tower operation and maintenance 
• Collection and disposal of transgenic plant material according to Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations
• Supplying De-Ionized (DI) water and nutrient water and maintenance of distribution equipment
• Administering site-specific training to comply with the Worker Protection Standard (WPS)
• Integrated pest management which includes pest monitoring, the scheduled distribution of beneficial insects, and chemical applications by request
• Provision of horticultural supplies e.g. trays, pots, fertilizer, soil, autoclavable bags
• Maintaining clean and stocked potting/prep areas
• Maintaining areas for the collection of plant tissues and seeds
• Reporting and changing environmental conditions in facility equipment e.g. temperature, humidity, PAR intensity
• Site planning/renovation for chamber installations
• Managing deliveries/movement of chambers
• Chamber decommissioning and removal
